Pastor Larry Patrick is a devoted servant of God, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a faithful leader of Lakefront Church of God. With a heart for ministry and a lifetime of hard work and compassion, Pastor Larry brings wisdom, humility, and a deep commitment to serving both his church and his community.
Pastor Larry has been blessed with over 50 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Sarah Ann Patrick. Together, they have built a strong, faith-filled family that includes two daughters, Victoria and Valerie, six grandchildren, and one precious great-granddaughter. Family is at the core of Pastor Larry's life, and his love and guidance continue to inspire generations.
Before stepping into full-time ministry, Pastor Larry worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator and coal miner. He is also the former owner of A&I Contracting, a business built on integrity, hard work, and service. His experience in the workforce shaped his strong values and work ethic, which he continues to apply in his ministry and leadership today.
In addition to his pastoral duties, Pastor Larry has played an important administrative role in the Water Into Wine Food Pantry, a vital outreach ministry operated by Lakefront Church of God. His dedication to feeding the hungry and serving those in need reflects his deep compassion and commitment to living out the Gospel in practical ways.
With a gentle spirit and a shepherd’s heart, Pastor Larry Patrick is more than just a preacher—he is a pillar of strength, a mentor to many, and a living example of God’s grace in action. His life and ministry continue to be a blessing to the Lakefront Church of God family and to everyone he encounters.
HISTORY OF THE CHURCH
​ Lakefront Church of God was founded on September 4th, 1988, in the Johnson Fork district along the Mountain Parkway in Magoffin County, Kentucky. Birthed out of a shared vision and commitment to serve God and the local community, the church was incorporated by four devoted men of faith: Melvin Risner, Corbett Stephens, Menifee Patrick, and Larry Patrick. From its very beginning, the church was established as a place of worship, community, and spiritual growth. Pastor Larry Patrick was appointed as the Senior Pastor at its founding—a position he has faithfully held ever since. His leadership has been marked by steadfast dedication, humility, and a deep love for both the congregation and the surrounding community. In 2011, Lakefront Church of God took a major step forward in its growth and outreach efforts by purchasing the former Middle Fork Elementary School campus. This move provided much-needed space for worship, ministry, and community service. The new location became a hub of hope and restoration, especially during one of the most challenging times in the county's history. In 2012, a devastating EF3 tornado swept through Magoffin County, leaving destruction and hardship in its wake. In response, the church stepped into action and founded the Water Into Wine Food Pantry, a ministry dedicated to feeding those in need and offering support during times of crisis. What began as a compassionate response to a disaster has grown into a vital community resource. The pantry is now a division of Outreach Ministries, an organization operated by the church to expand its mission of service and care. Most recently, on July 16th, 2023, Lakefront Church of God celebrated another milestone with the dedication of its new sanctuary. The dedication service, led by Rev. Donnie R. Hall, marked a new chapter in the church’s journey—a testament to God’s continued faithfulness and the enduring spirit of its congregation. From a small group of faithful believers in 1988 to a thriving church community today, Lakefront Church of God stands as a beacon of faith, service, and love in Magoffin County. The journey continues, and the mission remains the same: to glorify God, serve others, and share the hope of Jesus Christ with all who will hear.
