Lakefront Church of God was founded on September 4, 1988, on Johnson Fork in Magoffin County along the Mountain Parkway. The church was envisioned by Larry Patrick, Corbett Stephens, Menifee Patrick, and Dallas Patrick, with Larry Patrick appointed as Senior Pastor—a position he continues to faithfully hold to this day. From its humble beginnings, the church quickly became a place where believers could gather to worship, study God’s Word, and grow in fellowship.

In 2011, Lakefront Church of God purchased the old Middle Fork Elementary School campus from the Magoffin Board of Education, creating space for expanded ministries and outreach to the community. Over the years, the congregation continued to grow in both number and spiritual depth, guided by devoted pastoral leadership and a dedicated team of ministers and volunteers. A significant milestone was reached on July 16, 2023, when the church officially opened its new sanctuary, which was dedicated by Rev. Donnie R. Hall.

Today, Lakefront Church of God stands as a thriving, Christ-centered community committed to worship, discipleship, and service. Rooted in its history and faithful leadership, the church continues to impact lives, extend God’s love to the community, and pursue its mission of glorifying Jesus Christ.
